An Evening with Derek Thompson
We are so pleased to announce that we are back at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium for an evening to meet one of horse racings legend commentator, Derek Thompson. We are even more delighted that the evening will be sponsored by our good friend and supporter, Ben Robinson MBE.
Derek Thompson, known as ‘Tommo’ will be telling us of his extraordinary career and giving an insight into the horse racing world.
Derek Thompson is one of the most recognisable voices and faces in horse racing. His broadcasting career began at the age of 18 on local radio. In 1972, where he was based in London working for BBC Radio Sport. In 1981, he moved to ITV, where he appeared on World of Sport and midweek racing coverage. In 1985, he joined the newly formed Channel 4 Racing team as a presenter.
Nowadays, he works as a studio presenter on Sky Sports Racing, formerly At The Races, and makes regular appearances on Talksport radio.

The evening has arrival from 6:45pm and a delicious three course meal will be served.
Starter: Trio of melon , passion fruit mascarpone, strawberry and mint salsa.
Main course: Slow cooked beef, spring onion and horseradish mash, roasted root vegetables and red wine jus.
Vegetarian main: Spinach and wild mushroom gnocchi in a roast tomato and red pepper sauce.
Dessert: Dark cherry and orange panacotta, crushed meringue and strawberry salsa.
