It might feel far too early to be talking about Christmas.
There are no lights in the streets yet. No festive adverts on TV. No countdowns. No carols. December still feels a long way off, but for some families, it doesn’t. Some families won’t make it to next Christmas. That’s the reality.
For families living with life-limiting and terminal conditions, there is no guarantee of next December. No promise of one more Christmas morning. No certainty of one last day together around the tree.
That’s why this matters now. Because while the world isn’t thinking about Christmas yet, these families don’t have the luxury of waiting.
At me&dee, we can’t change what’s ahead, but we can make sure that, when December comes, it holds something truly special.
This year, we are planning something deeply meaningful. We want to take 164 people on a magical Polar Christmas Steam Train experience at the beautiful Churnet Valley Railway. Not for show. Not for spectacle.
But for what really matters: Laughter in the middle of everything they’re facing. Time together without appointments, fear, or uncertainty. Moments of joy that feel, even briefly, like normal life. Memories that will stay with loved ones long after. For some, this will be their last Christmas together.
And that’s why we’re asking for your help now.
