30 Days of Hope

Description

We’re excited to share that we are launching a new fundraising campaign throughout the month of June, called ’30 Days of Hope’.

We hope that you’ll join us on this fundraising mission as we seek to support more families across the Midlands facing short and uncertain futures. To find out more about the reason for launching this campaign and how you can get involved, please read below.

To register your fundraiser, please sign-up by completing a short form here, 30 Days of Hope Registration.

Description

What is the campaign?

The campaign will run from the 1st – 30th June and is centred around raising vital funds to be able to continue gifting our very special ‘Hope the Elephant’ memory gift to families across the Midlands who are facing short and uncertain futures.

Who is ‘Hope the Elephant?’

Hope is a very special memory gift, gifted to families who have received a life-limiting or terminal diagnosis. Hope has zippable ears that safely store keepsakes, mementos, a notepad and a voice recorder, providing comfort to those distanced by long hospital stays and the bereaved, because an ‘Elephant never forgets’.

Hope has become a powerful medium for many families, offering comfort in what is otherwise an extremely confusing and uncertain time. We have seen Hope used as a form of communication between siblings who have been separated by long hospital stays, she has provided comfort to bereaved parents who have been able to record the last sounds of their children’s laughter or snoring. More recently, we have supported a local hospital in funding specialist recording equipment so in utero heartbeats can be recorded for babies who are not expected to survive childbirth, and then stored safely in the voice recorder in Hope’s ear.

What are we hoping to achieve?

The cost to supply one Hope Elephant to a family is £30, and with 30 days in the month of June, the idea behind ’30 Days of Hope’ was born. We hope that through collecting as little as £1 a day throughout the month, by June 30th  your collection total will cover the cost of sending out a Hope Elephant to a family.

Our overall aim is to be able to fund at least 30 Hope Elephants, with a fundraising goal of £900. We would then not only be able to provide Hope to even more families that sit within our programme of Continuing Care, but also to families that are supported by the University Derby and Burton Hospitals Trust both on Children’s Wards and within the Children’s Mortuary and Neonatal Teams.

How can you get involved?

We’d like for you to get as creative as possible with your fundraising. You could take on 30-minute a day, 30 miles in the month, 30 laps, 30 lengths or any other related physical activity, asking people to sponsor you. Likewise if you didn’t want to take on a physical challenge, you could organise a bake-off in the office with 30 people, with entry charged at £1 per person or groups of 10 could organise to collect as little as 10p a day each! The method can be as creative as you would like, but with the overall aim of funding at least 1 Hope Elephant.

We have designed a very special ’30 Days of Hope’ money box where you can collect donations or sponsorship too!

We would love to find a way for schools and nurseries to get involved too and we have designed a special 30 Days of Hope poster, where they can track donations in Hope’s balloons – each balloon being representative of a £1 donation.

To encourage people on their fundraising journey, we’re offering any participant that raises more than £60 (the cost of 2 Hope Elephants), their very own Baby Hope cuddly toy, as a reminder of their incredible contribution and the difference it will make to the local community.

To register, you will need to notify us directly and can do so by completing the short form here – 30 Days of Hope Registration. We can then send you a complete fundraising pack to help you along on your fundraising journey.
