Easter Bikers

A Rideout to Derby and Burton Childrens Hospitals

A ride out to both Derby and Burton NHS childrens wards in memory of Olivia and Violet, remembering their lives and their love of bikes. We were so very proud, grateful and heart warmed by the support from Blue Knights LEMC England XI and those who also joined us as friends and supporters, joining the ride in marshalling, caring and making a difference, with a special mention to the Blood Bikes that joined us from Derby and Staffs.

Meeting at The Bell Inn at Anslow, Burton on Trent, Sara and the fantastic staff looked after the bikers with hot tea and coffee in their fabulous marquee, a fine starting point for our ride out.

It’s all made possible by our supporters

me&dee responded to the requests for non food Easter Treats and with the aid of our Amazon Wish List and public support were able to deliver hundreds of items of Easter related craft items packed into me&dee rucksacks for the bikers to hand to nurses and patients, starting our journey at Burton Hospital meeting staff and children and visiting the children on the ward before heading to Derby Children’s Hospital where we had a fabulous greeting from staff, patients, guitarist and 12 me&dee families who are under the care of Derby Children’s Hospital.

me&dee staff & volunteers had set up several Easter Crafternoon tables, the Hospital League of Friends supported all with refreshments. The atmosphere was wonderful, lots of smiles, hugs and the bikers joining in with the children, handing out dozens of filled rucksacks and also visiting not just the children’s ward but also the elderly ward, giving out gifts of appropriate jigsaws and puzzle books.
