Masons Supporting me&dee

Nottinghamshire Masons support me&dee

This story starts just before Christmas 2021 when a visit to our lodge at Sherwood Hideaway and a meeting with Bill Ashley and Barry Woodhead, Provincial Grand Charity Steward, who were there representing TLC Notts, Teddies for Loving Care.

Bill and Barry brought with them an amazing donation of 150 teddies! This wonderful gift means that me&dee can give out teddies to children who are going through some fairly torrid times in their lives, a time when a cuddle from a teddy means so much.

The teddy bears were given out to children all over the region on our 2021 Santa Bike run and have been included in our bespoke wellbeing packs, that are going out to children that are either in hospital or poorly at home.

Maria added; “Everyone loves a teddy bear, no matter their age. To be able to give a teddy to every single child within families facing short and uncertain futures together, is just so wonderful for us. Even more wonderful are the beautiful smiles we receive back, in person and in photos.”

Fast forward to February 2022, Maria and Mark were invited to attend the 17th TLC Valentine’s Lunch at the beautiful Carriage Hall, in Plumtree, Nottingham.

The invite came from Bill Ashley who has been a supporter of the charity for a number of years now and is one of the charities Advocates. To be honest Maria and Mark thought that they were going to talk about the difference the teddy bears that were donated and a little about me&dee, but there was more!

A total of 116 guests, including 15 children, attended and all were welcomed by RW Philip Marshall, PGM, and President of TLC Nottinghamshire. A special welcome was given to tables who have regularly supported the event as well as ‘first-timers’ and all the children.

A presentation was then announced by Philip and asked the Chairman of the Provincial charity committee, John Pawlik, to present a cheque for £5,000 to Maria, a total shock to both Maria and Mark!

But they weren’t finished there, a further announcement came, the donation had been matched by MCF which has resulted in a total donation of £10,000, to say things got a little emotional is an understatement.

A lovely afternoon spent with heart warming people, a delicious three course meal and while the speeches and presentations were going off, long time supporter and magician, Matt Ramsell entertained the children with some fantastic magic, great to catch up with Matt.
